The Ministry of Finance and the Small Business Administration have published a list of employers who have received more than $150,000 in loans from the Salary Protection Program.
Congress passed a $2 trillion federal CARES Act (the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act) in March, which includes funding to create a Payroll Protection Program (PPP).
The financial lifeline is designed to help employers keep their employees wages and pay some management expenses. If it is used as expected, there is no need to repay the loan.
On Monday, the Ministry of Finance and the Small Business Administration released information about companies that received PPP funding. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin (Steven Mnuchin) previously refused to release the data and overturned the decision under pressure from lawmakers.
The data released by the SBA does not include the exact loan amount of companies that receive $150,000 or more. For loans less than $150,000, the company name is not disclosed.
